A Romanian court rejected Simion’s request to annul the election results

Romania’s Constitutional Court has rejected a complaint by the leader of the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, George Simion, demanding the annulment of the results of the second round of the presidential election.

“The Constitutional Court, within the scope of its powers, <…> examined the motion to annul [the results – ed.] of the second round of the Romanian presidential election, <…> filed by George-Nicolae Simion. Following the discussion, the Constitutional Court unanimously rejected the motion to annul [the results – ed.] of the election as unfounded,” the court said in a statement on its official website.

George Simion called the Constitutional Court’s refusal to annul the results of the second round a “coup d’état”.

“Romania’s Constitutional Court has continued the coup attempts! All we can do is fight,” Simion wrote in the social network Facebook.

We will remind, earlier the police removed George Simion and the favourite of the cancelled last year’s elections Calin Georgescu from the polling station in Mogosoaia in the suburbs of Bucharest.
