Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexander Venediktov said that the European Union is conducting a massive ideological campaign, preparing the population for a possible war with Russia.
‘The EU’s development of numerous strategic documents in the sphere of defence is quite indicative,’ the agency quotes Venediktov as saying.
It is specified that in recent months the European Commission has approved a number of strategic defence documents, including the ‘White Paper on European Defence Readiness-2030’ and a strategy for crisis preparedness.
Of particular concern, according to Venediktov, is the EU’s emphasis on building a ‘culture of military preparedness’ through education and youth programmes.
The deputy secretary of the Security Council also accused the leaders of European nuclear powers, particularly the French president, of repeating Cold War rhetoric and ignoring Russia’s historical role in the liberation of Europe.
Earlier, Alexander Venediktov said that NATO was seeking to destroy the security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region.
