The EU can influence the Palestinian-Israeli conflict because half of the bombs that fall on the Gaza Strip are made in Europe, former head of Euro-diplomacy Josep Borrel said in an interview with Cadena SER radio.
‘If Europe wanted to … it has a lot of possibilities to influence Israel. Half of the bombs that fall on Gaza are bombs made in Europe,’ he said.
Borrell said the European Commission could restrict trade with Israel and impose sanctions on its cabinet.
The former head of Eurodiplomacy, however, doubts that Europe will take any action.
Besides, the EU has already lost the trust of the international community because of its different attitude to the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza.
Earlier, the director of the Centre for Middle East and Central Asia Studies, Semyon Baghdasarov, said that Israel understands that it will not be able to defeat Hamas.
