Israel’s PM Netanyahu causes ‘headaches’ for Trump – WP

US President Donald Trump is unhappy with the policy of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who advocates the continuation of the war in the Gaza Strip and seeks to destabilize the dialogue between Washington and Tehran on the nuclear issue, the Washington Post reports.

‘Trump’s friends in the Gulf shower him with deals and victories, but when he looks at Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu and [Otzma Yehudit party leader – ed.] Itamar Ben Gvir, he sees only headaches,’ the publication said.

According to the newspaper, the Israeli leadership is promoting an ‘endless war’ in the Gaza Strip and seeks to sabotage US negotiations with Iran on the nuclear deal. The piece noted that also Tel Aviv is not ready to make political concessions that would be necessary to establish relations with Washington’s Arab allies.

‘In Trump’s worldview, Israel is not necessarily a strategic ally in the deep, classical and value sense, but rather a ‘premium customer’, perhaps even a ‘real estate asset’ in the Middle East,’ writes the Washington Post.

Recall, earlier Reuters wrote that Israel admits the possibility of strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in the coming months, despite the fact that the United States is not ready to support such a step Tel Aviv.
