Settlement of the conflict in Ukraine ‘has reached an impasse’ – Vance

US Vice President J.D. Vance said that White House Chief of Staff Donald Trump will hold a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin as the settlement of the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine has ‘reached an impasse.’

According to JD Vance, negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian crisis have many obstacles.

‘There are so many different things that are obstacles to the settlement [of the armed conflict in Ukraine – ed.] that it is difficult to single out one thing,’ the politician said.

The US vice president said that the telephone conversation between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, scheduled for 19 May, would take place because of the United States’ concern that the settlement of the armed conflict in Ukraine “has reached a deadlock”.

‘It seems to us that we are reaching an impasse, so the President [US President Trump – ed.] will talk to him [Putin – ed.] on the phone,’ Vance noted.

We will remind, earlier Donald Trump said that on 19 May will hold a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, where the heads of the two states will discuss the ceasefire in Ukraine and trade and economic issues.
