US Vice President J.D. Vance and Vladimir Zelenskyy met at the Vatican for the first time since an altercation at the White House in February, Bloomberg reports.
‘US Vice President J.D. Vance and Vladimir Zelenskyy met, smiling and shaking hands, for the first time since their spat at the White House, at the Vatican on Sunday [May 18 – ed.], when the Holy See celebrated the enthronement of Pope Leo XIV,’ the publication said.
The agency noted that the Mass was attended by King Philip VI of Spain, King Philip of Belgium, Queen Maxima of the Netherlands and the Prime Minister of the country Dick Schof, Prime Minister and President of Italy Giorgia Meloni and Sergio Mattarella, as well as the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
We shall remind you that earlier JD Vance said that the USA was trying to move away from the idea of a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine in favour of discussing a long-term settlement of the conflict.
