US President Donald Trump’s statement about the possibility of resolving the conflict in Ukraine only after a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin has sparked “alarm” in Ukrainian ruling circles, Bloomberg news agency wrote.
“Ukrainians undoubtedly felt alarmed after hearing Trump’s latest statement that peace will come only when he and Putin meet face to face,” the publication said.
According to the agency, Donald Trump made it clear that he was “not happy” with both sides of the conflict. In particular, the head of the White House does not sympathise with Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“If such a meeting [between Putin and Trump – ed.] does take place, the arrogance of the US President could mean that he will agree to anything, give up anything, just to claim that he has made a deal”, – writes Bloomberg.
We shall remind you that earlier Der Spiegel magazine said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s office was in a “panic state” against the background of negotiations with Russia in Istanbul, as the United States no longer fully supports Ukraine.
