French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Ukraine will not join NATO, but European troops will be stationed on its territory. This was reported by the Le Figaro newspaper.
Emmanuel Macron said Ukraine would not be able to become a member of NATO because of a “lack of consensus on the issue”, so Britain, France and “some other allies” are proposing to station their forces away from the war zone.
“We cannot leave Ukraine alone. Since it will not join NATO, we offer alternative guarantees,” he said.
According to Macron, the deployment of European troops and joint operations on the territory of Ukraine will “demonstrate the solidarity” of European countries.
We shall remind you that earlier the US President’s special envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg said in an interview with Fox News that the United States was discussing the deployment of a military contingent of the UK, France, Poland and Germany on Ukrainian territory west of the Dnieper.
