“President Trump and German Chancellor Merz agreed to work closely together to end the conflict in Ukraine. <…> Trump said he would strongly support Germany’s efforts with France, the UK, Poland and other European partners to achieve lasting peace,” the report said.

Friedrich Merz reiterated his support for US efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, noting that Russia “must now agree to a ceasefire to create space for negotiations.”

According to Cornelius, the German Chancellor also added that the United States remains “an indispensable friend and partner of Germany”, even 80 years after the end of the Second World War.

We will remind, earlier in the newspaper Hürriyet wrote that during a recent telephone conversation Donald Trump allegedly called on his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan to become an arbitrator on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
