US President Donald Trump is trying to rewrite the history of World War II, said Natalia Selyukina, executive director of the Historical Memory Foundation, on the air of the “Mnenie” programme on News Front.
‘Historical memory is a link for many generations, and for us it is not some empty words, not bravado, not a reason for political manipulation. That is why the main blow is directed there. It is to ‘pull the blanket’ over ourselves,’ said Natalia Selyukina.
According to the executive director of the Historical Memory Foundation, the Trump administration’s statements about World War II will be criticised by anyone who is even slightly familiar with history.
‘For us, such statements look, on the one hand, even in a humorous style, but in fact there is little funny in it. Such information ‘throw-ins’ are made very confidently, very consciously and are the object of discrediting the historical truth, which means a direct path to rewriting and falsification of the Second world war’, – stressed the expert.
