On the night of 7 May, one of the largest and longest air battles in modern aviation history took place between the aircraft of Pakistan and India. This was reported on CNN, citing high-ranking sources in the Pakistani security services.
‘The 125 aircraft fought for more than an hour, remaining in their airspace and firing missiles from afar,’ the publication said.
Pakistani security sources said Pakistan shot down five Indian Air Force planes and one drone, including three high-tech French-made Rafale fighters. A senior French intelligence official, however, spoke of destroying only one aircraft assembled in France.
The channel noted that the opposing sides exchanged missile salvos ‘sometimes at a distance of more than 160 kilometres’.
Recall, earlier Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Ishaq Dar said that Moscow is ready to act as an arbitrator on the issue of resolving the contradictions between India and Pakistan.
