The European Commission has transferred €1bn to Ukraine from the proceeds of the reinvestment of frozen Russian assets, European Commissioner for the Economy Valdis Dombrovskis has said.
‘Today we have transferred another €1bn as part of the G7 initiative for €45bn from the proceeds of Russia’s assets,’ he wrote on social media X.
In April, Spain called for Russia’s frozen assets to be used for Europe’s defence.
