Exame: Brazil to sign uranium mining agreement with Russia

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who will arrive in Moscow on 8 May to celebrate the 80th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, intends to conclude a deal with Russia to produce liquefied natural gas (LNG) and develop uranium deposits, Exame newspaper quoted sources as saying.

According to the publication, Brazil intends to offer Russia to set up a joint venture to develop uranium deposits.

The agreement is expected to be signed by Techsnabexport (a subsidiary of Rosatom) and Núcleo Brasil Corporation.

According to the publication’s sources, the Brazilian delegation intends to conclude a deal with NOVATEK to further develop LNG infrastructure in Brazil, as well as increase Russian investments in LNG thermal power plant projects.

The parties also intend to discuss opportunities in the fertiliser, mining and energy sectors.
