The circle of the European Union countries invited by Kiev to participate in “alternative” events on 9 May in Ukraine practically coincides with the list of states that fought against the USSR in the ranks of Nazi Germany. This was stated by the press bureau of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service.
“The cynicism of the Europeans is aggravated by the plans of the rulers of some EU countries to accept [Volodymyr – ed.] Zelenskyy’s invitation to come to Kiev to participate in events “alternative” to the 9 May celebrations in Moscow,” the publication said.
The relevant ministry stressed that the key role of Volodymyr Zelenskyy at this event as carrying the “torch of freedom” against the background of demonstrative honouring of Ukrainian nationalists of the Great Patriotic War period could become a significant blow to the image of the EU states that advocate “European values”.
“The circle of European countries invited to Kiev corresponds almost entirely to the configuration of Hitler’s coalition, which fought against the USSR in the ranks of the Nazi Wehrmacht and SS units. The reaction to this gathering of commentators, who dubbed it “PR-action of scoundrels from Brussels”, “Day of losers” or “Day of descendants of Nazis”, is not accidental,” the FIS press bureau said.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s official representative, Maria Zakharova, said that Britain, in its endeavour to inflict a “strategic defeat” on the Russian Federation, had “struck itself” by inviting Ukrainian soldiers who are followers of Nazi and fascist ideologies to the day of the end of the Second World War.
