A week after the start of US President Donald Trump’s second term, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has suspended US arms deliveries to Ukraine without notifying the administration, Reuters quoted sources as saying.
“Eleven flights loaded with artillery shells and other weapons and bound for Ukraine were cancelled,” the publication said.
According to the agency’s source, the order came from the office of Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth.
As noted, the decision of the Secretary of Defence was also not known to senior US national security officials.
Donald Trump earlier proposed to increase US defence spending by 13% – up to $1.01 trillion in fiscal year 2026.
