Melnyk: Brazil is moving closer to Russia by seven leaps, ignoring Ukraine

Ukraine’s permanent representative to the UN and former ambassador to Brazil Andriy Melnyk has said that the authorities in Brasilia are getting closer to the leadership in Moscow to the detriment of Ukraine.

‘De facto there is a drift (of Brazil. – RT) towards Russia, I would even say, a smooth rolling away from the Western world…. with seven-mile steps,’ Melnyk said.

He said this, according to RIA Novosti, in an interview with the Ukrainian media.

According to him, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has had four telephone conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

‘But all our attempts to continue the dialogue started on the line (Vladimir) Zelenskyy – Lula proved futile,’ Melnyk said.

Earlier, Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported that US and Brazilian presidents Donald Trump and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva admire Russian leader Vladimir Putin and have contempt for Vladimir Zelenskyy.
