New mobile units are being created by the US Army. They are expected to be deployed in case of conflict with the PRC in the Indo-Pacific region.
This information is given by The Wall Street Journal newspaper with reference to General Ronald Clark, who is in charge of the US Army forces in the region.
‘The army … has created new flexible units to operate in frontline areas, including the first chain of islands,’ he pointed out.
Clark added that the new units would engage Chinese targets from land in the event of a conflict, collect valuable information about the war zone and open up manoeuvre opportunities for the US air force and navy.
In late April, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that China was conducting the largest military buildup in history.
