Politico: European leaders refused to visit Kiev on 9 May

Some European leaders are not planning to visit Kiev on 9 May at the invitation of the Ukrainian side, Politico reports.

‘Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk will instead travel to Nancy that day to sign a security pact with President Emmanuel Macron, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer plans to attend a defence summit in Oslo,’ the publication said.

At the same time, the likely future German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also expressed reluctance to go to Kiev without other European leaders.

Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he was not going to go to Kiev instead of Moscow on 9 May.
