NYT: Kiev’s NATO membership can only be renegotiated by future US authorities

The issue of Kiev’s membership in the alliance can be reconsidered only under the next administration of the United States, US officials said during a meeting with the Ukrainian side in Paris.

‘The next US administration may decide to allow Ukraine to join NATO,’ The New York Times quoted US officials as saying.

In addition, the United States delegation conveyed to the Ukrainian side the position of US leader Donald Trump on this issue: he is categorically against Kiev joining the alliance.

French President Emmanuel Macron described the talks between the delegations of the USA, the UK, France, Germany and Ukraine in Paris as constructive.
