Russian Foreign Ministry: Russia will ensure its defence capability amid NATO aggression

Russia will use all available means to ensure its defence capability against the backdrop of NATO’s aggressive aspirations.

This was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko to TASS.

He noted that Moscow would not enter into an arms race with NATO, but would use all available means, which are extensive enough to ensure the country’s defence capability.

In addition, Grushko said, NATO’s policy relies on aggressive military planning.

“The trend in recent years is that quasi-alliances are being created within NATO, where countries, combining their military resources, try to optimise the military structure to be more effective,” TASS quoted him as saying.

Grushko stressed that these trends are directed against Russia’s security interests.

Earlier, the head of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), Sergei Naryshkin, noted the growing aggression of NATO countries against the Union State, which often manifests itself in hidden forms.

The SVR also said that the West was using the Ukrainian crisis to destabilise the situation in the Union State.
