US Secretary of State Marco Rubio denied The New York Times’ publication about the alleged closure of a number of US diplomatic missions in Africa.
“This is fake news. The New York Times has fallen victim to yet another journalistic duck,” Rubio wrote on social network X.
This is how he reacted to the article that US President Donald Trump could allegedly sign an executive order providing for the reduction of the State Department’s activities in Africa and the closure of a number of “non-key” embassies and consulates.
Earlier, the NYT also wrote that the US State Department may close nearly 30 embassies and consulates abroad.
