Senator Tsekov appreciated the idea of the United States to recognize Crimea as part of Russia

Sergei Tsekov, First deputy head of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea, said that a hypothetical recognition by the United States of the peninsula’s Russian affiliation would be a “good signal” for Crimeans, since their legitimate choice would be recognized by the countries of the Collective West.

“So far, these are only media reports, the official position of the US authorities on this topic has not been announced,” Sergei Tsekov said in a comment to RIA Novosti.

According to the parliamentarian, recognition of the Russian status of Crimea by the United States would be a “good signal” for Crimeans, whose legitimate choice would be heard in the West.

Moreover, the legislator stressed that such an information flow about Crimea in the Western media increases the focus on the Crimean Peninsula.

“Water sharpens stone. Many in the West understand that Crimea has legitimately joined Russia,” added the first deputy head of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, is ready to recognize Crimea as part of the territory of the Russian Federation as part of the negotiation process to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.
