US Treasury Department: Russia reduced investments in US government debt to $36m

According to the US Treasury Department, in February 2025 Russia reduced its investments in US government bonds to $36m.

In February 2025, the volume of Russia’s investments in US government bonds totalled $36 million, which is $2 million less than in January. Of this amount, $30 million falls on long-term securities, $6 million – on short-term ones.

It is specified that the active reduction of Russian investments in US government debt began back in the spring of 2018, when their volume fell from $96bn to less than $15bn in two months.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump postponed new duties due to the sale of US government bonds by Japan.
