The administration of US President Donald Trump plans to cut the budget of the United States Department of State by almost half, the Washington Post newspaper writes, citing a memorandum from the State Department.
According to the publication, budget cuts for the next fiscal year will amount to $28.4 billion, which is $27 billion (48%) less than the funding level approved by Congress for 2025.
According to the memorandum, financial support for international organisations is proposed to reduce by almost 90%, in particular, to stop funding the UN, NATO and 20 other organisations.
We will remind, earlier in the European Commission reported that the authorities of the European Union from 14 April to 14 July 2025 suspended retaliatory measures against U.S. duties on imports.
