NYT: suspension of US duties linked to threat of new crisis

The suspension of US duties for 90 days is linked to fears of a new financial crisis.

‘Trump’s decision was prompted by fears that his bid for tariffs could turn into a fincrisis. And unlike the… the 2008 crisis and pandemic, this one could be directly attributed to just one man,’ The New York Times (NYT) reported, citing sources.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said he was suspending for 90 days additional import duties imposed under the principle of reciprocity on a number of countries.

According to him, people are ‘starting to get a little scared’.
