European Commissioner for Agriculture Christoph Hansen said that the EU will cancel the duty-free import regime for Ukrainian agricultural products after it expires on 5 June, Politico writes.
‘The cancellation of duties drew criticism from farmers in France, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia, who claimed that the influx of cheap Ukrainian products had damaged their agricultural markets,’ the publication said.
Christoph Hansen noted that the European Commission was preparing a new system of tariff quotas, which would be ‘more favourable for Ukraine’.
Earlier, Ukrainian Deputy Economics Minister Taras Kachka said that Ukraine did not intend to impose retaliatory duties on the United States, but planned to achieve the cancellation of 10 per cent duties on its goods.
