Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko has said that a potential conflict between the US and Iran could lead to dire consequences for the region.
Speaking in the State Duma, he said.
‘I think that in the case of such a scenario …. it threatens the most deplorable consequences for the region,’ TASS quoted him as saying.
According to him, there is a probability of such a development of the situation. He also added that the Russian side would not want another conflict to break out, where Russia would probably have to ‘sort out’ the situation.
‘I think that everything that needs to be done will be done by our government,’ he added.
Earlier it was reported that Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had put the country’s Armed Forces on high alert.
