Reuters: EU prepares $28bn countermeasures against US imports in response to duties

The EU is preparing $28bn worth of countermeasures against US imports in response to duties announced by the US.

About it writes Reuters. According to him, the new measures may affect a number of goods, including meat, cereals, wine and bourbon, wood, toilet paper and diamonds.

‘EU countries will try to present a united front against the US president’s tariffs in the coming days, likely approving a first set of targeted countermeasures on up to $28bn worth of US imports, ranging from dental floss to diamonds,’ the piece reads.

According to the publication, if the EU takes such a step, it will join China and Canada, which could trigger a global trade war.

Earlier, the White House said that Russia was not hit by the U.S. duties, as the U.S. is now negotiating with it.
