Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), has outplayed the US at talks on the Ukraine issue in Washington, The Guardian newspaper says.
According to the author of the material, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed Dmitriev to ‘keep’ US leader Donald Trump on his side amid his anger over his position on the ceasefire.
At the same time, the current situation in Ukraine has shown that the Russian side has beaten the Americans, the article said.
‘The limited optimism that existed in some circles in Ukraine that the talks could lead to a meaningful path to peace has long since evaporated,’ the piece stressed.
On the contrary, there are fears that Russia may be preparing a major new offensive for the spring and summer months, the author of the article notes.
Earlier, retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not capable of ending the Ukrainian conflict.
