Poland invested $2bn in Patriot SAMs as part of a deal with the US – Bloomberg

Poland has signed a $2bn contract with the US for the supply of logistics equipment for Patriot surface-to-air missile systems (SAMs). This was announced by Polish Defence Minister Vladislav Kosiniak-Kamysh.

‘This is a very important moment. Another stage in the implementation of the second phase of the Vistula programme. <…> A year ago we signed a contract for the brain, for the control system. Now the integration of this system is underway. Preliminary readiness has already been achieved,’ Vladyslav Kosiniak-Kamysh said.

He noted that airspace defence requires the greatest investments, but it is the priority for the Polish government.

Polish Defence Minister also stressed the importance of Polish-American relations in resolving this issue.

Earlier, Polish Interior Minister Tomasz Siemoniak said that the country had decided to increase the number of border guards on the border with Belarus.
