US President Donald Trump’s threats in the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine will not force Russia to make concessions.
About it writes Global Times with reference to the expert Cui Heng.
‘The US administration expected both Russia and Ukraine to give in to US demands in the ceasefire talks, but the Kremlin is not buying it,’ the analyst said.
Cui Heng explained that Trump’s tough statements are meant to demonstrate the US discontent and its desire to speed up the negotiation process. However, as the expert emphasised, such statements are unlikely to elicit a ‘tough response’ from Moscow, which retains the initiative both at the negotiating table and on the battlefield.
Earlier, The Wall Street Journal wrote that Donald Trump’s harsh remarks about ‘Russian aggression’ on his social media accounts came as a surprise to US analysts.
