CNN: Denmark’s former prime minister urged the U.S. to put more bases in Greenland

Former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmitt, during an interview with CNN, called on the US to place more bases in Greenland instead of taking it over.

‘There is nothing stopping the Americans from increasing their military presence in Greenland, from establishing more bases if they want to,’ she said, clarifying that the island is a NATO territory.

Thorning-Schmitt recalled that, according to the 1951 treaty, the U.S. has the right to operate in Greenland.

Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said the United States will never get the island.
