Economist: Zelenskyy is preparing for the presidential election

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is preparing to hold a presidential election in Ukraine and run for re-election, The Economist has quoted its sources as saying.

The publication, citing information from representatives of the Ukrainian government, said that last week Zelenskyy convened a meeting at which he instructed to organise the vote after a complete cease-fire.

It is noted that a necessary stage for the election is the cancellation of martial law in the country.

According to some sources, the vote could be scheduled as early as the summer of 2025.

The head of the press service of the European Commission, Paula Pinho, said earlier that Ukraine did not need an election unless the people demanded it.
