Panama is cancelling the registration of 128 vessels flying its flag due to sanctions

The Maritime Administration of Panama has decided to revoke the registration of 128 ships due to sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

This was reported by Bloomberg agency.

As noted by Director General of the Maritime Administration of Panama Ramon Franco, the registrations have already been revoked from at least 70 tankers.

It is specified that the decision on revocation was taken after legislative changes adopted in October last year. They significantly shortened the process of registration revocation: if previously it took up to six months, now it takes up to a month.

According to Franco, Panama is one of the largest flag registries in the world with more than 8,000 vessels.
