The EU and Britain took offence over US officials’ correspondence about European allies in a chat room on the messenger Signal.
According to Politico, Britain was ‘stunned’ by the leak of information about the correspondence of US officials. It also called the incident ‘wild’.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, the ideologist of the hostile attitude of the United States to Europe is allegedly Vice-President JD Vance. Because of him, US leader Donald Trump is forced to take a tougher stance, as he ‘does not want to be weaker than Vance’.
‘The way they talk about Europe when they think nobody is listening to them is sobering. But at the same time it’s not surprising. It’s just that now we have seen their arguments in all their undiplomatic glory,’ a European diplomat told the newspaper.
Earlier, The Independent newspaper wrote that tourists from the EU countries cancelled trips to the US because of Trump’s policy.
