Starmer urged the EU to prepare a plan to contain Russia – New York Times

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on the European Union to prepare a plan to contain Russia in case of a ceasefire between Moscow and Kiev. This was written in the New York Times newspaper.

Keir Starmer said that without European support, Kiev will remain defenceless and called on the EU to provide strong security guarantees for Ukraine.

‘We cannot sit and wait for a deal and when it happens, agree and scratch the back of our heads,’ he said.

The Prime Minister also commented on US President Donald Trump’s initiatives on a peace settlement. He said that London and Washington are ‘connected in a way that no other two parties are connected’.

We will remind, earlier the agency Bloomberg wrote that in Europe insist on refusing to fulfil the requirements of Russia on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine.
