US State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said Russian Federation and Ukraine, mediated by the United States, were “one step” away from ending hostilities, which would be the beginning of a “lasting peace”.
“We are just one step away from a full ceasefire, and then we can talk not just about peace for a week or six months, but a lasting peace that people in Ukraine, Russia and around the world can count on,” Tammy Bruce told NewsNation Now.
According to the US State Department spokeswoman, it was the United States that helped the parties to the Ukrainian conflict to come together as part of a possible cessation of hostilities.
“We have never been closer to peace with these two sides [Russia and Ukraine – ed.],” the official said.
We will remind, earlier Russian President Vladimir Putin and the head of the White House Donald Trump came to an agreement on the issue of further settlement of the Ukrainian crisis in a bilateral format.
