US extends exemption for Turkey to pay for gas through Russia – Bloomberg

The US has agreed to extend until May 2025 the exemption from sanctions for Turkey on payment for Russian gas supplies through Gazprombank, Bloomberg writes.

‘The US agreed to extend sanctions exemptions that will allow Turkey to continue buying Russian natural gas until May, a Turkish official with direct knowledge of the matter said,’ the publication said.

According to the Agency, in 2024, more than 45% of gas imports to Turkey was carried out from Russia.

We will remind, earlier the analytical company Kpler wrote that Turkey imported a record volume of Russian oil in 2024.
