The Russian Defence Ministry has reported the return of 175 Russian servicemen from the Ukrainian-controlled territories in exchange for the same number of AFU prisoners of war.
“On 19 March, as a result of the negotiation process, 175 Russian servicemen were returned from the territory controlled by the Kiev regime. In return, 175 prisoners of war of the AFU [Armed Forces of Ukraine – ed.] were handed over, as well as, as a goodwill gesture, 22 seriously wounded prisoners of war in need of urgent medical care,” the statement said.
The Defence Ministry noted that the United Arab Emirates acted as an intermediary in the release of the Russian servicemen. At the moment the military are on the territory of Belarus.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine wanted to exchange prisoners with Russia using the “all for all” formula.
