Clashes with police have begun in Istanbul at protests in support of detained Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu.
According to local media reports, thousands of students took to the streets.
They broke through the police cordon, and law enforcers responded with tear gas and batons.
The mayor of Istanbul has been detained on corruption, bribery and bribery charges. A ban on rallies and demonstrations was imposed in the city until 23 March.
