The resumption of strikes on the Gaza Strip is due to an “impasse” in talks on the release of Israeli hostages, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar said.
“Over the past two and a half weeks, we have reached a stalemate in which both no fire is being fired and the hostages are not being returned,” Ynet quoted him as saying.
The foreign minister said that if Israel had not taken action, the situation would have remained at the same level.
“Hamas will not bring Israel to its knees, this will not happen,” he concluded.
Hamas said earlier that the movement would not compromise with Israel in talks on the Gaza Strip.
