US President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are pursuing active diplomacy with Kiev and Moscow to seek a peaceful resolution to the Ukrainian conflict.
This was stated by the official representative of the State Department Tammy Bruce, she is quoted by RIA Novosti.
‘All of these efforts – first in Riyadh with the Russian delegation, then in Jeddah with the Ukrainian side – are aimed at one thing: this has to stop. The world wants it to stop,’ she emphasised.
Bruce also noted that the US ‘wants long-term peace, and that’s why Rubio is pursuing “active shuttle diplomacy” and Trump is in contact with Russian President Vladimir Putin to ’get an agreement to stop the fighting.’
Earlier, Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation during which they discussed further steps to restore bilateral relations.
