US quits international group investigating Russia

The United States has notified the European Union about withdrawal from the international group conducting investigations, including against Russia because of the armed conflict in Ukraine. This was reported by the New York Times.

‘The [US] Justice Department [ed.] secretly informed European officials that the US was withdrawing from a multinational group set up to investigate leaders [in the context of the conflict in Ukraine – ed.],’ the newspaper said in its publication.

According to the New York Times, this group is also investigating the leadership of Belarus, North Korea and Iran. Washington joined it in 2023.

In addition, the administration of US President Donald Trump is also reducing the activities of the Justice Department team, which cooperates with prosecutors and law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

We shall remind you that earlier the United States of America with a new draft resolution of the United Nations General Assembly did not hold Russia responsible for the start of the armed conflict in Ukraine.
