The lower house of the Dutch parliament voted against the country’s participation in the rearmament of the European Union, the Dutch publication Volkskrant reported.
According to the newspaper, only the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy was in favour of participation, while the Freedom Party, the Farmer-Civil Movement and the New Social Contract were against.
The Volkskrant noted the fears of the Dutch authorities about the growth of public debt due to the rearmament programme, as the European Commission announced that countries will be allowed to deviate from the budget rules.
We shall remind you that earlier it was reported that European Council President António Costa was conducting a dialogue with the EU member states to draw up a list of weapons that could be provided to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
