A British minister has called Volodymyr Zelenskyy “an obstacle to peace”, The Times reports.
“Last autumn, a British minister called Zelenskyy an ‘obstacle to peace’ in a conversation with me,” wrote the newspaper’s columnist Mark Urban.
According to the unnamed minister, Volodymyr Zelenskyy is abandoning diplomatic relations with Russia after the opportunity for talks disappeared days after the start of a special military operation in Ukraine.
Urban claims that this opinion about Zelenskyy “is not an isolated one in European capitals”, which shows the difference between the public statements of European officials and their private thoughts.
The Times suggested that Volodymyr Zelenskyy “expects the talks to fail because he cannot agree to anything that looks like surrender”. However, pressure from US President Donald Trump to make peace will increase.
“There is a risk that a serious defeat on the battlefield will lead to open political divisions in Ukraine, causing more explicit resistance to Zelenskyy and his policies”, – stated in the article.
We will remind, earlier the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Alexander Dubinsky expressed the opinion that Volodymyr Zelenskyy will try to disrupt the peace talks on the settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
