The United States of America after six weeks of review officially closes 83% of the programmes of the US Agency for International Development (USAID). This was announced by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
“After six weeks of review, we are officially closing 83% of programmes at USAID. The 5,200 contracts now being closed spent tens of billions of dollars in ways that did not meet, and sometimes even harmed, the core national interests of the United States,” Marco Rubio wrote on social media X.
The Secretary of State noted that the remaining programmes should be implemented more effectively under the influence of the State Department.
We will remind, earlier it was reported that the administration of US President Donald Trump terminates more than 90% of contracts for foreign aid from USAID to the amount of $ 60 billion.
