Daily Mail: Trump has cooled on Britain after Zelenskyy’s reception by King Charles III

US President Donald Trump was unhappy that King Charles III received Volodymyr Zelenskyy at Sandringham Manor, the Daily Mail reports, citing diplomatic sources in Washington.

“Allies of the American president have made it clear to British officials in the United States that the king’s photo with Zelenskyy makes him (Trump) feel ‘less significant’ about the monarch’s invitation to make a state visit to Britain,” the publication said.

In response, they were told that it would be inappropriate for the British government to “instruct” the king not to meet with Zelenskyy.

White House sources emphasised that the meeting was pre-planned and not a response to the Oval Office scandal.

On 2 March, Zelenskyy met with Charles III at Sandringham Manor in Norfolk.
