Representatives of the United States have notified NATO allies of their intention to stop planning military exercises on the territory of the EU countries, Expressen reports, citing informed sources.
‘If the ruling remains in force, it means that Sweden and the rest of NATO member states will have to plan exercises without US participation or small US air force units,’ the publication said.
The reason for the cancellation of the planning of military exercises in the EU countries was the desire of the administration of US President Donald Trump to reduce state budget expenditures.
Earlier, the TV channel NBC reported that Trump may refuse to protect a partner in the alliance.
