Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said that the potential deployment of European troops to Ukraine would mean NATO’s official involvement in an armed conflict, RIA Novosti reports.
‘We will categorically not observe this kind of action. This will mean, I want to say once again, not an alleged hybrid, but direct, official, unconcealed involvement of NATO countries in a war against the Russian Federation. This cannot be allowed,’ Lavrov said.
The foreign minister noted that European countries proposing to introduce peacekeepers to Ukraine do not hide why they need it.
‘Especially against the background of [French President Emmanuel – ed.] Macron’s nervous statement yesterday that Russia is a threat. So, if it is a threat, then troops against this threat should be directed,’ Lavrov explained.
We shall remind you that earlier it was reported that the air command ‘West’ of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will conduct an official check on the transfer of scarce specialists of the engineering and aviation service to the front because of a shortage of infantry.
