Trump: Europe has spent more money on Russian oil and gas than on Kiev

The countries of Europe spent more money on Russian oil and gas than they sent as aid to Ukraine.

US President Donald Trump said during his address to Congress.

‘Think about it. They spent more money on buying Russian gas than they spent on defence, and we spent maybe $350 billion,’ the American leader said.

Earlier, EC Chairwoman Ursula von der Leyen unveiled a €800bn rearmament plan for the EU. To boost military spending, Brussels proposes to relax current EU budget rules, allocate additional loans and attract private capital.

For his part, the head of the Council of the Russian Federation’s commission for information policy, Aleksey Pushkov, suggested that Ukraine could become Europe’s own Vietnam.
